Corn

At the beginning of this summer, Talon and I purchased 32 acres of land which is directly south of the dairy farm. Talon then anxiously planted his first crop... corn. His goal was to harvest the corn and its stalks to be silage for the dairy. (FYI; the corn and stalk are stored in a large bag where it ferments and provides a very healthy feed for dairies).  

Not many farmers in our area grow corn so Talon was a bit uncertain what to expect. However, after watching the corn grow to nearly 14 ft. tall our worries were turned to thanksgiving.

Wish us luck with the harvest scheduled for the middle of this month. We hope feeding silage will prove to be financially beneficial to the dairy as well as provide better nutrition for the cows for better quality of milk in the future.
